Alex's Masterpiece

Alex had a piece of her art selected for the School District of Eau Claire's annual Spring Art Show. We attended a reception to mark the opening of the show on Friday night. Her piece was Matice inspired and there were only two others from her class displayed. She is such a little ham. She had a field day when other parents were asking her if that was her work. It was so cute. There are over 500 pieces of artwork on display from schools all over the district. They will be there until Mid-May and can be viewed Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.

Sunday, March 22nd, Alex competed in a new pageant. Ironically, it was in Hutchinson, MN. Please note: I never had to go there when I worked for HTI. Although Bob has been there many times. Anyway, she competed in photogenic, spokes model, casual wear and formal wear. She finished as 2nd runner-up in her age division. She was so disappointed. It was hard to see her so upset. Alex has decided she doesn't want to compete in anymore pageants. Sad. But, as I told her, what I enjoyed most about them was spending time with her practicing, doing hair, shopping for outfits. I told her we could do something else together. I mentioned sports and dance or piano classes before she said she would like to learn how to cook. She does love to cook and watch Rachel Ray. So, we'll see. For Christmas she received a kids cookbook, mixing bowl set and apron. We now have the ingredients for her to make smoothies. She said she also wants to make fruit kabobs. I guess you should stop on by if you are hungry, we'll have plenty of food. :)
