Family Gathering

We gathered on Monday, September 22nd to celebrate the life of my uncle John. He was 52 years old. And was buried next to my Grandpa Servi. While it was a somber event, it was nice to see my aunts and uncles and my cousin Johnny. Johnny hadn't been to WI in 17 years. The group of first cousins talked and looked at pictures from the past. It was nice catching up. Of course we had to take some pictures while everyone was together. My mom is the oldest of 6. Carol is next, she lives in Appleton. John, lived in Maryland. Bev and Jim live in Antigo. And, Donald lives in Florida. I love the first picture of my family. The hill and field in the background are part of Grandpa's farm land. I've always thought it was so beautiful on this part of the land.
The picture of my first cousins is definately missing some people. We had to count, there are 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In birth order: Jamie, Jennifer, Chris, Justin, Brittney, Jim, Keah, John, Jeff, Josh, Bryon, Tiffany, Samantha, Elise, and Gabe.
Great grandchildren: Gregory, Madeline, Kourtney, Alexandria, Jed, Joey, Olivia and one due in April.

Oktoberfest September 20, 2008

Jen and Alex

Alex and her cat animal balloon. She named it Sparkle but it's nickname is Sprout. ????

Bobber was likin' the beer. It and the German desserts made by Menomonie High School's German club were fantastic. As were the cheese curds, french fries, pork and dumplings. Yum Yum!!

Bobber and Professor Young.

That's not Bob or I up there. I know the resemblance is amazing but, it's really not us.

Interesting turn of events

My uncle's funeral will now be Monday, September 22nd. After weeks of this mess, (the wife still not signing off and now the morgue charging $65 per day to house the body.) my grandma found his will. His executor had the power to sign off and have the body transported to Wisconsin. Guess who the executor is? My mom. He had this will created when we watched his son Johnny back in 1986-87. What a twist of fate!!!!

Colts Game

Colts Game - Second Half

The view from our seats

Gotta love a camera with a nice zoom!

Peyton said "I'm gonna throw the ball and your gonna catch it" Followed with him throwing the ball and Adai dropping it. So, close!

Final Score Colts 18 - Vikings 15

After the Colts game

Those crazy Colts fans!

Funny, Scott sure was quiet during the 4th quarter. Huh?

'Twas the night before the Colts game.....

'Twas the night before the Colts game....
...when all through the house,
Not a Sprout was moving, cuz Alex was at Grandma's house.
The jerseys were hung in the closet with care,
In hopes that Peyton Manning soon would be there.
Jennifer was nestled
all snug in her bed,
While visions of Colts players
danced in her head.
And Denise in her Colt's thong and Viking cap
Had just settled down, for a pre-game day nap.
When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter.
Away to the railing I flew like a pass,
Threw down the program and started shaking my a$$.
The moon on the field could not reach below
Cuz the dome doesn't open, don'tcha know.
When what to my wondering eyes should I see
Coach Dungy and eight starting players with thee.
With the light so bright I could almost go tanning
I knew in a moment it must be Peyton Manning.
More rapid than Brady his coursers they came,
And he didn't huddle, just shouted and called them by name:
Now Rhodes! Now Harrison! Now Clark and Addai!
On Wayne! On Saturday! Vinatieri stand by!
To the fifty yard line! To the end zone so near!
Let's beat the Vikings and go have a beer!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with a defense, mount to the sky,
So up to the dometop the players they flew,
With a brand new playbook and Tony Dungy, too.
And then in a twinkling, I heard a sound that was neat
The prancing and pawing of each little cleat.
As I stood from the railing and was turning around,
Down the field Manning came with a bound.
He was dressed all in white from his head to his A$$,
And his clothes were still stained from when the Bears put him in the grass.
A bundle of plays he had in his head,
And he looked like a conducter someone once said.
His eyes, how they watched! His voice rang out!
His play he was changing, with only one shout!
His hands they were hiding below the center's backside,
And, his feet were all ready for the defensive tide.
The mouthpiece he held tight in his teeth,
And the helmet encircled his head like a wreath.
He had recent surgery to his left knee,
It was nice that he wanted to be just like me.
He was slender not stocky, as I watched him run by,
And I laugh cuz I can't seem to cheer for Eli.
A shout to the line and a twist of his head
Soon gave us play changing that a defense will dread.
He ran down the playclock almost to nil,
And hiked the ball and fired at will,
With Harrison in the end zone a touch down they'll call
it was a play action fake that fooled them all.
He sprang to the sideline to review the play,
Praying to God for a defensive stay.
And, I heard him exclaim as the time clock ran out:
"Thanks for watching the game, now all but Jennifer get out."

A ha ha ha.

Happy Birthday, Sammer!

Yesterday, my sister turned 19. 19!!! That makes me really old. We went to dinner at Friday's and they sang her the Chi Chi's birthday song, while she was standing on a chair. Unfortunately, I have no pictures of this as the camera is packed for the game on Sunday. Sorry, Sam! I was looking for a picture this morning. I will add one later today.

Colts Game

Next Sunday, Denise, Scott, my Dad and I will be going to the Colts/Vikings game. I can only hope they play better than they did last night. (Bears had an awesome D last night.) But, since they did play so poorly, the colts had to come off my computer today at work. And, my Peyton Manning card had to lay down until I can look at him again. That shouldn't take long. Who am I kidding?!?!? He'll be back by Wednesday. LOL
I am curious what antibiotic Peyton is on. Announcers said he had lost his appetite on this antibiotic and I would like a prescription of that, too. Tee hee hee.

An observation

My uncle John passed away on Tuesday. He lived in Maryland. My grandma has had so many issues in trying to bring his body here. The plan was to have him cremated and then have a service and burial in Antigo. But, because he died alone, they need to do an autopsy. My uncle was an alcoholic. Has been since I can remember. I know my dad threw out the liquor that was in his truck when he brought his son to live with us.
Then I just found out today that he was still married. Separated for 3 years but, still married. Now Grandma has to have her sign off to have him cremated and transferred to Wisconsin. They are giving Grandma a hard time, too. Isn't it bad enough that she is going through this, why must some people be like this.
So the observation goes back to the golden rule. Treat others as you'd want to be treated. There's no sense living to make others miserable. We teach our kids the golden rule. Why is it so difficult for adults to follow. Future generations would be so much better off if they had more positive role models to look up to.
I have to stop now, or I will go on a tirad about teenagers and the lack of respect/other issues.

First Day of School

The new backpack with Jasmine on it. Oh and her name, too. She's more excited that Jasmine in on it. There's a matching lunch box that attaches to the front. Very cool.

Our big second grader.

My how time has flown. Already we're into September and classes are in their second day. Tuesday was an orientation day. We brought all of her school supplies and filled out all the forms and then left after playing on the playground for a short time. It will be interesting to see what this year holds. The teacher allows them to bring a snack that they can eat any time. She also said the kids can bring a water bottle and fill it as needed but, only one bathroom break per hour will be allowed. Very interesting.

Wednesday was the first full day of classes. Alex said she had the best day ever. I hope that continues. She also made a new friend at the YMCA's after-school program. She's a third grader. Alex seems to relate well to older kids. But, only time will tell.
